Juggernaut Log: Hawaii Edition 44
Lomi (LO mee): Rub, massage. I went up Tant'lus las' night wit' Cheryl- she wen geev me da BIG LOMI!"
THURSDAY. For breakfast we ate at Shiro's noodle shop in Aiea. Oldest noodle shop in Hawaii. Sometimes the owner would come out to play his Ukelele. Well, I ordered the Dodonpa Saimin. Just imagine a #1 at any Pho restaurant. Haha. That big.

After, we headed to the Keiwa Hei'au in Aiea. It was a place where the old Hawaiians went to heal people. They would arrange rocks and shape them into body like figures to practice their medicine. Other Hei'aus are known for spiritual sacrificing. I learned that they planted Green ti leaves around the pit to attract the good spirits. When you see red ones planted, lets just say its pretty bad. Its said that if you mess with the spirits you have to pray before you leave, or else they would follow you back home.

Went to the Ala Moana mall, back in the 80's it was one of the biggest malls in the world. Today its known as a tourist spot. Just picture Mission Valley & Fashion Valley merged. You get Ala Moana mall.
We chilled at Magic Island. The beach was perfect as the waves broke against the rocks. Marvin was taking pictures with his camera and there was this sketchy guy asking Marvin if he wanted a picture with Diamond Head. He was afraid he'd take his camera so he said no. If it was me I'd say yeah. It'll give me a reason to beat someone up if he ran. Haha.

Our hike today was a crazy ass hike up Koko Head. 1048 ft high. Thats 1048 steps if your a size 12. Haha. According to legend, Koko Crater was formed when Pele, the goddess of fires and volcanoes, was chased by Kamapuaa, the pig god. She was being chased because the pig god was obsessed with having sex with her. She was tired of it so it is said that she ran up the mountain to cut off her vagina. Thats what I heard from the locals.

The hike was on an old rail cart track so we walked up that. We took a break like every 100 steps. It got steep and there was this one part in the middle where the railroad track went over like a bridge and below was a story high drop. Scary. I climbed it, holding onto the cart tracks, like in that movie scene from stand by me. Haha. At the top we saw an old military bunker from world war 2. Nice view of the Island as well. When we went down, I felt like an old man holding on to my knees each step. Haha.

P.S. Tell me why this old Japanese dude went up and down the trail twice by the time we got down. Haha. Damn. Need to start exercising more.
