SATURDAY. Went to Rohr Park with Brhos (Active, non-Active, founders & alumni) & Lady Rhos. Good turn out. About 40 heads there. Ate hotdogs, hamburgers, chips, drank hella beer, water & caprisuns. Just had fun. Had the football out and a softball game going. Its always cool kickin it with old school. Shared pledging stories, secrets, & basically anything to make us scream our brains out.
Pbrho Kim cut his leg like an inch and went hella dramatic on us, like he was going to faint. Haha. Overall fun day, who wouldve thought we would have a grip of laughs playing/watching softball. Oh yeah, Kim please keep your eyes open when you catch and RJ, you cant catch the ball with your back turned on it, ducking. Haha.
Finished the day kicking it at the Pbrho Mike's pad cooking and eating steak & rice, and drinking. Waffles, Vince, Mike, Kim, Nate, Wendell, Dru & Flannel. Good times. Way to end a summer night, just kickin it.
P.S. The video above is a lil "taste taste" for Fall 2K9 rush.
THURSDAY. Woke up at 10am then headed over to SDSU for Greek Move-In Orientation with the brhos. Dang only 30 minutes of presentation. Good shit. Haha. Tomorrows forecast is...100 Degrees. Fuuuuuuuuck. At least we get 2 water bottles and a free shirt right? -_-.
After the meeting, chilled at my pbrho Mikes apartment, added TFM 160 last nite. Ahhhhh yeeeeee. Giggity giggity. 14 units now. Looked for my books. Around $300 this semester or less. Erika and my big sis Jenn came over to the apartment and chilled for a lil bit.
My big sis treated my twin Kathy and I to Cheesecake Factory in Fashion Valley. She asked me what I wanted to eat earlier, my answer, jokingly, was Red Lobster. Twin & I kept joking about how we were going to order the most expensive thing on the menu. Haha. Well I ordered some kinda katsu-type lemon chicken and it came with asparagus and mashed potatoes. Some bomb shit.
We also went to Foot Locker cuz my bigs also wanted to know what kinda Jordan shorts I want for formals. So I told her wsup. Showed her a pair of shorts and how it looked good with a new pair of J's. Hint hint. Haha. Thanks for lunch big sis.
P.S. No, you wont get paralyzed if you get a tattoo on your spine. Dont worry big sis. Haha.
SATURDAY. Today we had our 1st Lady Rho get together. 14 girls showed up. I brought 3 boxes of maui caramacs, a bag of macadamia nut hershey kisses and a tray of mixed filipino desserts. One word: Devoured. Haha. Jon D popped those desserts in his mouth like advil. It was coo seeing old school, coming out to support. We handled business/pleasure at the same time. Lets keep this semester strong. I hit em with some of my corky analogies, but its coo. Haha
After the get together, I headed to my Sigma big sis' house to cook her some dinner. The menu for the night was steak & shrimp. "i say..Yea buddy! Rolling like a big shot..." Haha. She bought some T-bone steaks and I cooked it like TGIF style. Top chef. Woot woot. I also made her some garlic shrimp. She also baked a cake. It was a feast. 6 T-bone steaks and a plate of garlic shrimp. Thanks big sis, love you long time. I love the new set of letters you got me too. Haha.
P.S. This semester, lets climb that mountain ladies. Haha.
FRIDAY-SUNDAY. APSIRHO retreat was fun. We headed up to Big Bear. Everyone met at my pad and we started off the trip by eating at Pick Up Stix in Mira Mesa. In my ride I had Chris, Kim, Charlee, Mike & Nate. I had a better time this retreat than the last. 30 brhos & 10 Lady Rhos. At the 4 story cabin, we had foozball, pool, a jacuzzi, shared stories, drank, & basically just had fun.
The Lady Rhos cooked one nite and Alquizar & I cooked the other. We had a feast. The menu looked like this:
WEDNESDAY. Woke up to my phone ringing. Charlee was on that line and had asked me if I could roll upto LA with him to help move things from his family's restaurant. Being the good samaratin, I said aite. Haha. We all met up at his aunt's thai restaurant for lunch before we left. Big sis Megan, Mea, Dalupin, Jay, Erick, & other people were there as well. We had some bomb ass thai food. Ended with some mango dish for dessert.
After lunch, we headed up to Pomona to kick it with Lance a bit. Dope crib with a pool. Talked story. Then headed off to chill in Pasadena. We had two and sumthin hours to kill cuz I think we had to wait till 6 to help move thangs. Got some Jamba Juice, then walked the strip, checked out the stores, & basically chilled. When we got back to the car we saw this flamboyant dude and Jon D was like "Hey is that a boy or girl." Dude flicked him off while he walked away talkin on his phone. Haha.
K, now to the nitty gritty. We moved like three commercial ass restaurant fridges. That shit weighed a grip. Charlee's mom got us some snacks from Shakey for the blood, sweat & tears of a job we did. Haha. After all the work she then took us to a Chinese sea food restaurant. DANG!!! That's what I said. We had a feast. It was one of those sit down fancy restaurants where you order a dish then you share around on this circular thang that rotates in the middle of the table. We had pad see ew, LOBSTER, yes LOBSTER, jalapeno chicken, walnut shrimp, some vegetable dish, & some other bomb ass shit. Topped with some kinda jello shot that tasted like an orange dreamsicle. Haha.
After dinner, went to this boba spot for a bit then went on our way to drop off Charlee's sister's friend home. It was six of us riding in a five passenger car. Im talkin bout like how we used to do it back in the highschool days. Well when we got to her neighborhood, this car was following us slowly and I had just realized it was a cop car. So I said right away "Hey theres a cop behind us." Good time to stop righ in the pedestrian zone, right, Charlee? Haha.
This is what went down. The first cop came to my passenger window to talk to us. Asked if anyone of us were on probation. Charlee tries to get out of his car (mistake 1). Never ever do that, two words: Rodney King. Haha. The second cop then instructs Charlee to stay in the vehicle. We chopped it up for a bit, then I opened the glove compartment, instead of Charlee, to get the registration (mistake 2). Then he worked the flashlight towards the back. We had too many people in the car and two of the four in back weren't wearing seat belts (mistake 3).
The outcome: they were cool about it and let us go. So Lucky. Haha.
P.S. Charlee, you were close to shitting your pants that night, huh. Haha.
TUESDAY. Happy Birthday to my Pbrho Kim & SB Ronque. We all ate at Crab Hut in Clairemont for Kim's birthday. The Pbrhos, psis', Aphig, Dpg, & other people were there as well. I got a pound of mild shrimp, full house style. Hella bomb. Then Nicole & I shared fries & calamari. Good eatin'. Then gave the psis' & pbrhos their pasalubongs from Hawaii. Afterwards, headed off to Jerry's apartment.
Jerry's apartment is dope. It's a big and spacious 2 bedroom apartment by SDSU. We chilled, watched tv, talk story, drank, played video games Basically chilled for Kim's birthday. Watched him drink two 40s of Mickey's. He smoked like half the Chocolate Macadamia Nut cigar I gave him. Haha. Then before we all dispersed, we gave him a good birthday beating. David whispered "Hey, Kim said we can beat him up." Haha. But after my hits, he made me look like the bad guy cuz David backed away and said "Naw, I aint gonna hit him." Fag. Haha.
Well, Kim eventually asked David to give him a birthday beating, so David ended up giving what Kim asked for, his birthday punches. I hit him mostly with my left hand, cuz I kinda felt bad hitting him with my right haymakers. I should've went for the Superman Punches to the chest. Haha. On the other hand, Nate bitched out. "I dont wanna hit my best friend, wehhhhhh." It went something like that. Haha.
P.S. Happy Sweet 16 Pbrho. Soon enough, your debut is on its way.
SATURDAY. My lil sis Liza bought me a ticket for Rock the Bells, for my birthday, so she headed to Mira Mesa and picked me up at my pad. Thanks lil sis. I threw on a hooded sweater, my usual routine, and then we headed on our journey to San Bernardino. The trip was coo, a good time to bond and just kick back and relax, since it's been a while where I headed up to a place more than an hour away and it wasn't me actually at the wheel. Felt good. Means I got to chill on the way back home too. Haha. But hey, I offered to drive back home tho.
Well at the concert, I was sposed to meet up with my cousins & Nikki, but they were prolly busy gettin drunk. Haha. I still liked most the artists that were on. Too bad Mos Def wasn't there. He's one of my favorite lyricists and supposedly my lil sis' hubby. Haha. I thought Dub C, Nas, Ice Cube, The Roots, Busta Rhymes, Big Boi, Slick Rick & Damien Marley was still dope tho. Too bad I didn't get to drink today, would've probably been twice as fun. The Reggae part got old for me, and I was waiting for Damien Marley to get off stage. Like literally "tapping my foot looking at my watch" waiting to get off stage kinda thing. Haha. No offense
After the concert, went back to Mira Mesa and we ate some Mexican food. Had a Surf N Turf Burrito. Also saw Benjo and Jez at the drive thru and chopped it up with them as well. I showed my lil sis the "scarier" way to get back to my house. The haunted road with the bench and the big tree next to it. Haha. Muwahahaha. One of the songs at Rock the Bells, that brought back memories was Nas Is Like. Freshman year of high school. I couldnt find Nas is like to put up, so I found this dope freestyle by fabolous. Haha. P.S. For my lil sis, the 5 artists I would sign would have to be Lil Wayne, Mos Def, Fabolous, Eminem, & Jin. I'd like to see all of them battle each other. Haha.
WEDNESDAY. Ran some errands then went off to watch "Orphan" with my lil sis Liza. All I have to say is WTF lil sis?!?! Don't get me wrong, I can do scary movies. I hate gruesome, bloody, gory, children movies. This movie makes me never want to adopt kids. Especially Russian kids. For the scary part, it's nothing to "scream my brains out." Haha. So many parts where I was like "WTF, don't leave her alone. Ughhhhhhh." Haha.
After movies, kicked it with my pbrhos Matt, David & Erick. Its been a month since we chilled so we hit up fashion valley and ate some Greek food. Gave them their presents and dipped to West Falls to give my big brho his present as well. And for summer, time flies when you're having fun. I miss Hawaii. *Sigh. Haha. I'm having Zippy's withdrawals. Haha P.S. Favorite scene in Orphan was the kitchen scene when the couple get caught late night canoodling. Haha. Oh yeah, turn on when she had smeared make up & fucked up teeth. Haha. Watch the movie.
SUNDAY. Today was my last full day in Hawaii. This was the best summer/trip ever. I mean everrrrrrrr. Haha. Haven't been bloggin for a while due to fraternity work, The Sims 3, or just basically spending the rest of the time chillin, in Hawaii.
Quick recap since the last entry. Ate out at a grip of places, drank with my cousins friends, drunkin nights, Jiu Jitsu Class, Zippy's, pillage the village, rob a bank, woke up on the other side of the island, you name it. Haha. Here's what I skipped bloggin about. Sorry. Haha.
Okay, now for today. Woke up to head to head to my aunt's house to visit my grandparents in Waipahu. It was my sister & her boyfriend's last day in Hawaii. Mine is on Monday at 12:45pm, Hawaii time. We hung out and said our goodbyes to our grandparents.
After we dropped them off to the airport we headed to a Brazilian Restaurant in Kahili. Kahili, meaning "the edge of Hawaii." First time eating Brazilian food. I LOVE IT. Haha. I had the Spanish rice, Pastele, & fried chicken.
Went on Keeaumoku street, known for the black syndicate called "abyss". Story behind that was, when young teenage strippers would want to dance they would go on this street known for the most strip clubs in Hawaii. They would be missing for days then end up sold off to another part of the world. This place was also known for it's massage parlors and its "Happy Endings". Look that up if yall dont know. Haha.
Ate dinner with the fam & chilled the night away. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Earlier Today (In this story):
Today will FOREVER be a memorable day for me. It was the first day that I've ever seen my grandpa cry. My "Umpa" cry. If I haven't mentioned in past blogs, then just know that he's been sick since I got here on July 7th. But, as we gave our hugs and began to walk away, he reached his hands out towards. Wiped his teary face and said, "This will be the last time that I will ever see you". That's when it hit me hard. Like a punch to the gut. First time, in a LoOoOoOong time, that tears came running down my face. Real shit.
Lets rewind this back to July 11, 1985. I grew up, in Hawaii, mostly with my grandparents & immediate family. When I was young I would ride the bus all around Hawaii with him going to random places. When I got to high school, I came back here one summer riding the bus with him again all over the Island. We ran, I think it was to catch another bus, but he wasn't looking one time and almost got flattened by an oncoming bus. I mean inches away of being pancaked. Luckily, I grabbed his hand to pull him back in time as the bus drove its way pass us. Now fast forward it to the present day, my college career, it's been 24 years of knowing my Umpa & hopefully there will be plenty more years to come. God Bless.
P.S. Thank you to all my family here for opening your homes, time, & most importantly, YOUR FOOD, to us. I appreciate it. Love you guys, BEST SUMMER EVERRRRRRRRR......
